2011 Trainers Showcase
The Trainers Showcase and Adoption Event was held on May 13th and 14th at the Canton Equine Facility. Thirteen horses participated in the showcase and a total of 35 were present for the adoption event. Trainers chose from four classes; halter, freestyle, pleasure and trail, to demonstrate their horse’s improvement.
We couldn’t have asked for a better group of trainers! Each one had a story to tell. Some showed how they've been able to take a previously unproductive horse and make it into something anyone would be proud to own and ride. Others demonstrated that some horses, especially those that are older and have been abused, can take months, even years to regain trust in humans and must be taken at a much slower pace. Regardless, great strides were made with all of the horses and the audience, as well as judges, were amazed at how well these once abused horses behaved in the show ring. Hopefully they will have a better chance at finding a home and learning a new career as a fox hunter, western pleasure or someone’s favorite trail horse. The rescue organizations are grateful to the trainers for their willingness to devote the time and energy to help the abused and unwanted horses that come through their facilities. HATS OFF TO AN AMAZING GROUP OF TRAINERS!!
